The site that I chose was the MDN Web Docs, a popular source of web-related documentation.
Progressive Enhancements is a web development strategy that allows more modern web features to be utilized with backwards compatibility for older web browsers.
Since a lot of users are using older browsers, not all of the latest web standards are available on older platforms. Many users of newer browsers, however, expect websites to look more up-to-date and less archaic. Progressive enhancements allow newer web and graphics features to be utilized on compatible platforms, without leaving older browsers unable to access the page content.
The homepage of the MDN Web Docs does not validate.
The progressive enhancements subpage does not validate either.
The homepage had 13 validation errors, while the progressive enhancements subpage had only 3 errors.
I think that the MDN Web Docs site is overall well-designed. It does not have any advertisements, and the text and font is aligned such that it is easy to read. I would give it a 10/10.
I would also have to rate the usability as a 10/10. Because of it's good design, it is also easy to use and navigate.
It does a very good job at documenting web standards.
